This was our 4th stay at the Stein and we found it up to its usual high standard in most respects. As we were staying a week we got a free upgrade to a suite on request. We were though disappointed at the severely reduced service for guests on the terrace where, for example, we could not buy a hot drink after 8pm.

Breakfast is good with a nice view from the roof. Hotel is old and many rooms dont have the view. Too expensive to what you pay.

Hotel Stein is located on probally this best site in Salzburg within easy walking distance of all the tourist spots. They had a nice rooftop bar but lacked any sort of recreation activity, like pool, sauna, or massage. However all in all a good hotel that I recommend.

the view from the terrace is terrific, everything within walking distance, staff friendly, room large and just a little bit shabby. but we will be back!

This was a complete rip off. It is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, but my room was 1 star at best. It was in a different section of the building through dark door and passage way. The room was narrow, window facing another building across less than 2 feet, there was noise throughout the night, not enough air circulation. When I was to check out in the morning, the only staff was too busy and couldn't help with my luggage. The only restaurant only serves breakfast. The terrace on the rooftop has a nice view, but you don't need to stay in the hotel to visit it. Did not enjoy the stay at all.

Very good hotel, with a great price from yeego. excellent location, within 2 min in the old town. we were lucky, because we had a junior suite. The breakfast is good but as other reviewers said previously something is missing.

The lobbyis welcoming with a friendly face on the desk at all times. The lifts are like something out of an old film,but are really quaint. Our room was huge with very comfortable beds and lovely quilts. The view was amazing - we overlooked the river and it snowed whilst we were there which made it look magical. The bathroom was lovely and clean with a powerful shower and hairdryer. The downside was no fridge or tea/coffee making facilities, but there was a safe in the room. The breakfast room was large and the choice was fantastic. There were cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, breads, cold meat and cheese, eggs and bacon and for drinks, you could have juices, tea or coffee. The roof terrace was fantastic and although it was cold, we sat and had drinks there with a blanket and the heaters on and it was lovely. All in all a wonderful hotel and I would certainly go again

The hotel was neat and clean, the room was beautiful and spacious. Breakfast was good and the staff was attentive. They recommended an excellent restuarant within walking distance. The view from the terrace was great but the decor was not up to the standards of the rest of the hotel. The location was perfect for walking to all the major Salzburg sites.

The room was a perfect junior suite, spacious, very clean,with the best view! The hotel was just a fiew minutes walking from the old city town,above the main bridge of the river. The staff, reception etc, was very helpfull ang kind, wtith a big smile always!!! Breakfast was great, with a great variety of food and drinks. Everything were wonderfull!!! If we ever happened to be in Salzburg again, we would choose the same hotel.

The hotel is very nice, the service is great, everybody was very friendly and helpful, the bar has an exeptional view to the city and the food was also of good quality. It has the best location possible, nearby the old town just in front of the river. The only disadvantage is that the bedroom, although we had a huge bathroom, was small and we had no view. However if i would go back to Salzburg i would book it again.

Perfect location 2/3 mins & you are in the old town. An old hotel which should close the rooms at the rear of the building as they are like a Dungeon.(these must be the ones allocated to those with Vouchers!) Ours was eternaly dark & was quite smelly. As for the Brits who travelled in Nov 07, I do not consider the choice of Scrambled or hard boiled eggs as a 'selection' of hot breakfast. A very expensive cafe/terrace bar, however a great view from the terrace.

The Hotel staff were very friendly and efficient and spoke very good english.The room was clean with king size bed,large flat screen television,desk and small settee.Well appointed marble bathroom ensuite.Good range of food for breakfast but would get monotonous if staying for more than a few days.Hotel is ideally situated just across the river from the old town next to the main bridge across the river.It is however at a busy road junction but the double glazing cuts out any traffic noise (maybe not a good spot in summer with windows open)Overall very impressed with Hotel and Salzburg.

SUPERB LOCATION CENTRAL FOR BOTH OLD AND NEW TOWNS.COURTEOUS STAFF, SPACIOUS ROOM WITH GOOD FACILITIES.EXCELLENT BREAKFAST BUFFET WITH HOT AND COLD CHOICES THE ROOF TERRACE BAR HAS FANTASTIC VIEWS OVER THE TOWN.HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!

A fantastic hotel right in the centre of Salzburg, with roof top terrace and to our suprise for the price we paid we had a suite it was brilliant. Reception staff were very helpful and the breakfast buffet was very good, a brillant weekend break, hiugkly recommended

We found the rooms of good size, extremely well kept, the staff very friendly and helpful, the terrace on the top floor is very nice, the breakfasts were good. We definately recommend the Hotel Stein- note to tall people, the ceilings are only 7ft.

The Hotel room was just like the picture, nice modern design and the bathroom was large and clean. Our room was on the 2nd Floor and overlooked the old town area of Salzburg - a great view. The location is fantastic and very central right on the river. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast gave a good choice of foods to chose from - cereal, cheese, ham, fruit etc... The roof top terrace was a great place to grab a coffe or something stronger with a fantastic view. Food choice a bot limited but it is only a cafe type bar. The only downside was that the rooms do not have air conditioning so I would imagine in the summer they would get very warm. Also there is work being done on the bridge outside which is very noisy. Trafffic can be noisy too but if you are above the 2nd floor I would image this would be less. Overall a great Hotel for the price with friendly staff and an excellent location. Would certainly stay there again !!!

We found the rooms very clean and modern, nice view over the river and the staff were fantastic. This is the only hotel with a Terrace where all the gorgeous people in town sit and drink coffee int he morning, pink champagne at lunch and wicked cocktails at night. The best place to stay in Salzburg.

Hotel is situated on the river right in the centre of Salzburg. Rooms are designed with a modern, contemporary feel and make for a very comfortable stay. The hotel staff are very attentive and will make you feel very welcome right from the start. They are more than happy to help you by booking any trips and taxis to the airport so you can get on exploring all the nearby sites. The hotel front faces the Old Town which is just across the river. One of the hotels best features is the rooftop terrace cafe which is a funky bar in the evening. Here you have beautiful panoramic views of Salzburg and is worth spending at least a few hours relaxing with a drink in the evening. For the price, the hotel is excellent value as is the buffet breakfast, which will keep you satisfied until late afternoon. All in all, a fantastic hotel; if we visit Salzburg, the Hotel Stein will be our first choice.

Room and bathroom were ideal, clean and with new decor, shower excellent.Breakfast food was excellent plent of fresh breads.The reception staff were very helpful indeed,couldn't do enough for us.The location was the best, on the river, old town on one side new town on the other.The views from the roof top bar were beautiful.

I loved staying at the Stein Hotel. The location is excellent, right across the bridge from the historic center of Salzburg and within easy walking distance many tourist sites. My room, 501, had a great view. The staff was a great help to me as well. For some reason, my laptop could not connect to the hotel's wireless network. The gave me an ethernet cable to use instead. This is a first for me in terms of service. Restaurant recommendations were also excellent. The breakast was ample and well chosen. I would definitely stay there again.

Hotel was very centrally located and well refurbished. The room was huge as was the bathroom. As we were on the first floor behind the hotel sign and the flag poles, the view was somewhat obscured and the traffic noisy. All in all a good choice at a great price.

The Hotel was a total surprise for the price that was paid for it. All rooms are decorated individually so you don't get that feeling that you could be in any generic 4/5* big name hotel. We stayed in the Mozart room which was traditionally decorated and felt very luxurious. Some rooms are also designed in a very modern way. The view from our room was priceless looking accross the river and over the old town and onto the mountain. The roof top terrace was wonderful and once again the view was unbeatable. The staff always had a smile on their face and nothing was too much trouble for them. Remember though this not being a big chain Hotel you may miss your tea/coffe facilities although bottles of fresh water were left each day. I think the slippers that are supplied more than make up for that anyway. The continental breakfast buffet was beautiful and set us up for the day. The dining room was beautifully decorated in art deco style. If you have never visited Salzburg trust me the location of this Hotel was perfect. It within walking distance of all of the main attractions Salzburg has to offer.

The Hotel was good and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Hotel Stein is in a very good location overlooking the river and the old town. Our room was clean and spacious and had an extra bed and the breakfast was good - help yourself buffet. Our room was at the back and because of this was very quiet. Rooms at the front have a better view but would possibly have more noise from the road outside.

The rooms were interesting. One was a long corridor with 3 beds. It had a view over the river though and beds were comfortable. Our friends had trouble regulating the heat--much too hot. Our double room was very nice, faced the back of the property. When the bars got out at 4AM it was noisy for a while. The included breakfast was tasty except the scrambled eggs were cold. The cappuccinos were excellent though!

Room was well appointed. Out our window was the home of the composer of Silent Night. Very close to old town. Bus from train station not great, bus stop two blocks from hotel. Next time we will take a taxi. Breakfast was nice but if it were not included in the price we would have gone else where, eggs were cold and the bread a little stale. All in all a great place ti see the city.

The most perfect views, clean and spacious room,modern hotel and centrally located in a beautiful city. I would definately recommend both the hotel and the city to anyone! Only down side would be that the hotel does not have its own restaurant - but there is plenty of choice within walking distance anyway. Service in the rooftop bar wasn't great either but everything else more than made up for this.

hote was in a great location. we asked yeego to book and asked if we could get an upgrade room overlooking the river as it was our 10th anniversary. and they did not dissapoint!!. great room with 42 inch tv and seperate sitting area. hotel slightly shabby in public area but staff vry nice and spoke good english. breakfast was great with a good selection of cereal and cold meats as well as smoked salmon.

Hotel was ok. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room needed repainting of scratches other guests had left. Bathroom was well equiped, but bath tube had a hole! Breakfast was ok as well.

Our room was great - faced the river, decent size. Our friend's room was smaller and faced the courtyard so they weren't as thrilled. Whichever size room you get they are stylishly renovated and modern. The location right across a bridge from the old town is perfect and the roof terrace bar is one of the best places to hang out in Salzburg.

Huge rooms with massive TV, rooms to the front overlook the Salzach river. No more than two minute walk across the bridge to the old town. Best view in Salzburg from the rooftop cafe. Staff in hotel very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast is a large buffet which will certainly fill you up for the day.
